About Us

Project Story

The current education model, based on logic, language and memorisation, no longer meets the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for the 21st century. Governments are looking for high-value, high-skill economies, which require a highly skilled workforce with broader cross-cutting skills such as collaboration, critical thinking and effective communication – skills that will help workers thrive in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.

The education model must therefore focus on the development of lifelong learning skills rather than simply gaining a qualification or skills that may become obsolete over time. In other words, education must evolve at the pace of industry and the economy, especially in the field of Vocational Education and Training (VET), where many trainers have not adapted to the rapidly changing work environment and its demands.

Project Goals And Target Groups

DT4VET project aims at creating the outcomes that will help to change the education system in VET for the one that will be based on the teachers who will expand their professional competences with the knowledge of the new working method – widely used nowadays both in the academic and business environment but still new in school education, especially in the VET sector – and will receive the tools needed to apply Design Thinking in their everyday pedagogical practice.

Identifying the key challenges and barriers that vocational teachers may face in implementing design thinking in their classrooms, and developing strategies for overcoming these challenges. Developing a comprehensive curriculum for a design thinking training programme that is tailored to the needs of vocational teachers, and includes hands-on activities, case studies, and other resources. Identifying the specific design thinking skills and mindsets that vocational teachers need to cultivate in order to effectively incorporate design thinking into their teaching practices. Identifying a set of best practices and guidelines for incorporating design thinking into vocational education, and disseminating these resources to a wider audience of educators and practitioners.
